Wind turbines are actually huge fans that blow long and hard. They harness the wind’s power to create clean energy that we can use in our homes and schools. It's like magic! Today we are going to learn about wind turbines and how they make the Earth a better place.
Have you ever felt the wind in your hair? It is that same wind that can be transformed into electricity through wind turbines. When the wind blows, the wind turbine blades begin to move. That wind makes these little blades on these propeller shaped wings spin. That electricity can be harnessed to power homes, schools, and even cities. Isn't that amazing?
Windmills are tall structures that have big blades that go around and around. They are often in large clusters, known as wind farms. These wind farms are either on land or in the sea. The size of a wind turbine varies, but some are as high as a 20-story building! A wind-turbine blade can be as long as a football field. That’s longer than a school bus! Wind turbines vary in shape and size, but they all use the same principle to generate renewable power.
Wind pushes against the blades of the wind turbine & makes it spin. This turning is linked to a shaft which rotates a generator within the turbine. via GIPHY The generator uses magnets and copper coiling to generate power, which is transported through power lines to homes and buildings. Wind energy to electricity This method of converting wind energy into electricity is clean, efficient and environmentally friendly. It’s kind of like harnessing the gravitational power of nature to make energy!
The greatest thing about wind turbine energy is that it doesn't cause any pollution and is not going to get used up. Unlike fossil fuels — such as coal, oil and natural gas — wind energy does not produce harmful greenhouse gases that pollute the air we breathe and cause climate change. With the use of wind turbines to produce energy, we can lower our dependence on nonrenewable resources and save the environment for our children and grandchildren. Wind turbine energy is also renewable, and will never be depleted. As long as the wind is blowing, we can provide clean energy!
Windmills are rapidly gaining popularity as a source of electricity all over the globe. Wind turbines are being adopted by countries around the world as a way to lower their carbon emissions and fight climate change. Wind turbines are growing increasingly efficient and inexpensive as technology progresses, which is also bringing renewable energy within reach for more and more people. Wind farms are appearing in fields, on mountains, and in the sea, generating renewable energy for a cleaner, brighter future.
